Located in an urban setting near the Rio Grande river, the Outlet Shoppes at Laredo is a four city-block long multi-story outdoor outlet center. The project takes advantage of the existing grade change across the site with a level of parking that is at grade on the south side and below grade on the north. Two levels of outlet shopping are situated above the parking level with access via escalators on the south side and at grade level on the north. Both levels are open air and the large pitched roofs above give the mall a dynamic character and shade shoppers from the hot Laredo sun. The project recalls the modern Mexican architecture with use of bold forms and colors, creating a festive shopping environment.
